    Hadith Thread (English only)

    Narrated Abu Huraira (ra)

'Once, a person was verbally abusing Abu Bakr [RA] while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was curiously watching with a smile. After taking much abuse quietly, Abu Bakr (RA) responded back. At this, the Prophet (PBUH) disapproved and left. Abu Bakr [RA] later met with the Prophet and asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, he was abusing me and you remained seated. When I responded to him, you disapproved and got up.' The Messenger of Allah said, 'there was an angel with you responding to him. When you responded to him, Satan took his place.'

He then said..'O Abu Bakr, there are three solid truths: If a person is wronged and he forbears it (without seeking revenge) just for the sake of Allah almighty, Allah will honor him and give him the upper hand with His help; if a person opens a door of giving gifts for cementing relationships with relatives, Allah will give him abundance; and, if a person opens a door of seeking charity for himself to increase his wealth, Allah will further reduce his wealth.'

Ibn 'Abbas [ra] reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) used to supplicate during the time of trouble (in these words):

"There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Tolerant, there is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne, There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Heaven and the earth, the Lord of the Edifying Throne."

    Allah said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper (wali) of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him;

And My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him,

And if he asks My protection (
Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge)
and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."

Narrated by Abu Huraira in Bukhari, vol8, hadith 509

    The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

"Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam (PBUH) every day the sun rises."

He was then asked: "From what do we give charity every day?" The Prophet (PBUH) answered: "The doors of goodness are many... enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one's legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one's arms--all of these are charity prescribed for you." He also said: "Your smile for your brother is charity."

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): Allah's Apostle (PBUH) said,

'Beware of suspicion, for it is the worst of false tales and don't look for the other's faults and don't spy and don't hate each other, and don't desert (cut your relations with) one another O Allah's slaves, be brothers!"

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (ra) and Abu Huraira (ra): The Prophet (PBUH) said,

"No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."

    Al-Bukhaari (1496) and Muslim (1053) narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri
(may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“…whoever is patient Allaah will bestow patience upon him, and no one is ever given anything better and more generous than patience.

And Muslim (918) narrated that Umm Salamah
(may Allaah be pleased with her) said:
I heard the Messenger of Allaah (S) say:
“There is no Muslim who is stricken with a calamity and says what Allaah has enjoined — ‘Verily to Allaah we belong and unto Him is our return.* O Allaah, reward me for my affliction and compensate me with something better’ ** — but Allaah will compensate him with something better.”
